Haunted Night Race & Tour - Ontario(courtesy Mike Badyk, W.O.W.)
Today (Wednesday, October 25th) is the last day to take advantage of the pre-registration discount for the 5th Annual Haunted Night Race & Tour taking place at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre northwest of Toronto this Sunday (October 28th). The M.O.C. has become our favourite location to hold events. The weather report for this Saturday night looks great - temps near 12 and sun with some cloud. Perfect for this time of year. Everyone who comes out gets a water bottle, treats and hot drinks, and there will be special festive beer available too! Dead Guy Ale will be available at modest cost at the end of the evening. This fine ale from the Rogue Brewing Co. is not only tasty, but comes with a keep-sake "glow-in-the-dark bottle" (Yes, it's back!) with the skeleton on the beer keg. We've got prizes for the racers and a special prize for the "Best Halloween Costume". Come party with us on Halloween!
Registration opens at 6pm. The Night Race starts at 7:00pm, with a mass start in waves. There are several categories, for both men and women. Whoever does the most laps in one hour wins. The race course is usually 9-10km in length. The race will last about an hour and a bit. If you've still got some energy left, we're going out on a tour at about 8:30. This will last about an hour, maybe longer if folks have good lights. We usually end up splitting into a faster and a slower group. Then its back to the club house to party! We will have videos and of course lots of snacks.
You need to have your own lights, and please make sure that they're good ones (long burn time, approx. 2 hours). Don't forget your helmet and all your other riding stuff. Late October can be cool - bring lots of stuff. There's a warm and dry place to change in the Chalet.
You can do either the race, or the tour, or both. The price is the same whether you do one or both. If you pre-register by October 25th, the cost is $15. If you wait until the day of the cost is $20. Please pre-register if you can. It really helps us a lot with our planning. Registration forms and full details are on the web at
www.wowmtb.com.
