A Celebration of Cycling
The cycling party we have been working on with Jim Crosscombe of the OCA and Curt Harnett is now officially a go. On November 18th, Canada's Olympic cyclists will get together with other members of the cycling community at the Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto for a night of celebration and music. The cost is $15 per person, and there are only 150 tickets available, so don't delay! You can purchase your tickets through our site by clicking on the A Cycling Celebration button at the top of your browser. You can take your chances at the door, but once the tickets are gone, they're gone...
Among the athletes confirmed:
Alison Sydor
Roland Green
Geoff Kabush
Chrissy Redden
Tanya Dubnicoff
Brian Walton
Czeslaw Lukaszewicz
More are expected to confirm in the next few days.
Also planning to attend are such luminaries as Steve Bauer, Sue Palmer and, of course, Curt Harnett. We would like to thank the sponsors who have come on board to help this event happen. However, we are still in need of additional financial assistance to put this event over the top, so please contact us if you can help with any amount - rjones@canadiancyclist.com or 1-519-442-7905.
Green To Trek
Roland Green has just let us know that he has signed with Trek for 2001 and 2002 (ie, a 2 year deal). Roland said that while he was happy at GT, the offer from Trek was extremely good.
Sydor Deal Not Finalized
Despite rumours to the contrary, Alison Sydor has not finalized contract negotiations with Volvo-Cannondale for next year. That's the word from Alison herself.
