The National Cycling Institute Milton (NCIM) is a not for profit corporation formed to advance cycling in Milton and across Canada. Its mandates are to operate the track cycling programs at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (MNCC), operate a high performance youth training academy, and engage in child and youth outreach cycling programs to build a strong base of cycling participants in Canada.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, National Cycling Center - Milton, this position uses comprehensive knowledge of cycling specific technical skills to provide coaching to track cycling participants. The Track Cycling Coach/Instructor is responsible for the planning and delivery of instructional track cycling programs while ensuring they are safe, fun and appropriate for the targeted age group and mission of the session or program. In addition, this position helps develop new programs and coaching and mentorship for the long term development of athletes.

Principal Duties
• Work with the Executive Director to plan and deliver structured cycling programs and sessions to meet the needs of the participants/athletes
• Plan, present and coach technical cycling skills and knowledge both on and off the track to participants and athletes
• Coach and mentor cycling participants during structured training sessions or programs
• Provide regular updates and feedback on projects, programs, sessions and athletes to the Executive Director
• Modify and adapt the technical, physical and mental training demands to meet individual participants' abilities and needs
• Provide a safe and well-supervised environment for staff, participants and athletes
• Create and supervise a positive atmosphere for participants to actively participate and excel
• Align and prepare equipment requirements where necessary
• Maintain a safe, clean facility; includes proper usage and storage of equipment
• Report any accidents, incidents, concerns or site damage to the executive Director
• Maintain and submit attendance records
• Submit all required forms ensuring accuracy and completeness of information to the Executive Director
• Establish positive relationships, clear communication channels and work cooperatively with all staff and participants
• Provide excellent customer service
• Attend and participate in mandatory staff functions: training, meetings and allocated program times as determined by the Executive Director
• Perform all other duties as assigned in accordance with National Cycling Institute objectives

Education Requirements
• Completion of Secondary Education
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in Recreation, Leisure Education, Kinesiology, Sports Science or Sports Management is an asset

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
• Minimum of two (2) years coaching/teaching/ program instruction experience is required in related field
• Comprehensive understanding of the cycling specific Long Term Athletic Development pathway and Cycling Sport for Life.
• Experience in coaching individual cyclists, teams or clubs an asset
• A comprehensive understanding of nutrition, biomechanics, anatomy and physiology related to the sport of cycling is an asset
• Knowledge and experience with multi-discipline cycling an asset
• Strong interest and personal commitment to athletic and coaching development
• Program planning and program presentation skills
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
• Effective organizational, time management and problem solving skills
• Experience working with youth in a recreational setting an asset

Special Requirements
• Minimum 19 years of age
• NCCP certified Competition Development cycling coach or willing to certify
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C"
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
• Certifications/workshops in a related field is an asset

Working Conditions
• Variable hours including some evenings and weekends
• Work performed in an indoor (Mattamy National Cycling Center) and outdoor setting (training camps, other cycling discipline rides)

Salary & Benefits
The hourly rate for the position is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Starting Date: November, 2017
