Less than an hour ago Andreas Hestler and Chrissy Redden were awarded the titles of Canadian Cyclist of the Year before a large crowd of their national teammates and local Victoria cyclists. Local Victoria rider Andreas won by a last day landslide over Kirk Molday, to take 26% of the votes cast (Molday had 13%). Ritchey pro Chrissy Redden also made a last minute leap to beat Alison Sydor, taking 30% of votes cast (22% for Sydor). We want to thank all those who voted in the first annual Canadian Cyclist of the Year awards - we will be posting interviews and photos early in the week when we return from Victoria.
