A Canadian men's road team has taken out UCI Continental status for 2018 - Probaclac-Devinci. The title sponsors are two Quebec-based companies - bicycle manufacturer Devinci and Probaclac, a probiotic products manufacturer. Many riders are from the former Transports Lacombe - Devinci team.
The team has stated that it will allow athletes to balance academic and cycling pursuits. "Cyclists' careers are getting longer and it is inconceivable that a young athlete sacrifices his studies to devote himself solely to cycling. We prefer to offer a shorter schedule to athletes and allow them to progress on both counts at the same time," says team owner Stéphane Tremblay.
The team will consist of ten riders, including six athletes from Transports Lacombe - Devinci: Hendrik Pineda, Olivier Péloquin, Francis Izquierdo Bernier, Stephen Keeping, Felix Dolbec and Max Rubarth. They are joined by Olivier Brisebois, Julien Gagne, Édouard Beaudoin and Connor Topping.
