Jackson 4th in Voting

Canadian road racer Linda Jackson finished fourth in the voting for the Canadian Press Female Athlete of the Year. The CP Awards are voted on by sports editors and broadcasters from across the country. Last year, Alison Sydor became the first cyclist to win the CP award. Professional golfer Lorie Kane won (with 271 points, including 72 of a possible 145 first place votes), followed by kayaker Caroline Brunet (187 points, 37 firsts). Speedskater Catriona Le May was third (53 points, 8 firsts) and Jackson was only one point back at 52 points (3 firsts).

More On Pezzo

Reader Rob Martin made a posting on the Forum concerning a „second‰ positive test for the Italian World Champion (see the Pezzo in Trouble? posting on Daily News for the background on this story). Actually, what he is referring to is a follow up test that is done on the same sample as the original: when a sample is collected from an athlete, it is split into two containers. One is tested, and the other is kept for a confirmation test if necessary. It looks like both samples turned up positive, which does not look good for the Pezzo camp. Pezzo goes in front of the Italian anti-doping committee on January 2nd.
