Mr. Marc Lemay has been awarded the UCI Merit by the Union Cycliste Internationale(UCI). The UCI merit recognizes an individual’s contribution to the development of cycling at the international level.

Marc Lemay has been involved in organized cycling for over 26 years during which time he has delved in many areas from being a race organizor, Quebec Cycling Federation President, Canadian Cycling Association President to President of International Mountain bike commission. Mr. Lemay has presided over the UCI Mountain Bike Commission since 1990 and it has been during his tenure that Mountain biking has experienced phenomenal growth and culminated with the inclusion of the discipline of X-country into the Olympic cycling program.

Mr. Lemay currently lives in Rouyn, Noranda where he has worked as a lawyer for the Province of Quebec Legal aid department.

Marc Lemay est impliqué dans le vélo plus de 26 ans durant la quelle il a agit comme organisateur de course, Président de la fédération québecoise de cyclisme, Président de la fédération canadienne cyclisme et ,depuis 1990, Président de la commission internationale de Vélo de Montagne de l`UCI. C`est durant son séjour comme Président de la commission de vélo de montagne que Marc à surtout laissé ses empreintes. La pratique et la popularité du vélo de montagne a connu une croissance phénoménal et a atteint son point culminant avec l ìnclusion de l`épreuve X country au programme des jeux Olympiques.

Monsieur Lemay demeure toujours à Rouyn, Noranda où il travaille comme avocat pour l àide juridique.


Charity Ride for MS

Mark Hopper will attempt his 3rd annual charity ride for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. He has received permission from the Toronto Bike Show organizers to do the attempt at the show. Mark will ride his bicycle on training rollers, day and night, for 1000 km., in the 54 hours available from the time the show opens at noon on Friday March 2nd until it closes at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday March 6th.
