The Eastern Canada Gravel Cup p/b Eurosports is proud to announce a long term partnership with the Shelley Gautier Para-Sport Foundation. The Gravel Cup is very excited to work with such an outstanding organization dedicated to enriching the lives of disabled people.
Shelley Gautier is multiple World Champion and Paralympian Canadian para-cyclist who, despite being hemiplegic due to a biking accident, has continued to thrive and dominate in para-sports.
The non-profit Shelley Gautier Para-Sport Foundation mandate is to break down barriers by loaning para-cycling equipment and raising awareness, so people with disabilities can be more integrated into their communities. The foundation currently has contracts with the Niagara Region, Brantford, Whitby and Bromont, Quebec with the goal of expanding to other communities.
There are significant challenges and barriers for people living with disabilities entering and participating in team and individual sports. These barriers include financial, physical and lack of suitable access to transportation, equipment, facilities, coaches and support people.
Sport is a rehabilitation tool that improves people s health and wellness while transforming their bodies and minds. Sport reduces stress, creates independence, and helps individuals with disabilities obtain higher education and employment. Sport also reduces dependency on pain and depression medication and reduces secondary medical conditions.
Together we can make a difference to the lives of people with disabilities through active, healthy living.

The Eastern Canada Gravel Cup Spring Runoff kickoff event is Saturday, April 6th, and will run regardless of weather or conditions. There's a backup route that doesn't use any unmaintained roads and a shorter bad weather route. ALL BIKES are welcome, so keep them all in working order. Also note there's a non-competitive team option for both the long and short routes. Let the fun and the battle for the Gravel Cup begin.
