Cycling Canada and Cycling New Zealand have decided to expand and formalize the exchange program they have had for the past few years.  Currently, Cycling Canada has New Zealand coaches Jono Hailstone (Men's Track Endurance) and Brendon Cameron (Head Track Coach), while New Zealand has Canadians Jacques Landry (interim CEO) and Martin Barras (High Performance Director).  Now, both organizations are looking to include athletes in the exchange program.

Canada is particularly strong in women's mountain bike and New Zealand has two top-10 male mountain bike athletes, so the plan is to start there, according to Landry.

"It's good timing, leading into Tokyo," said Landry.  "We (Cycling New Zealand) will send over either Anton Cooper or Sam Gaze, and in return get one of the top Canadian women (Emily Batty, Catharine Pendrel, Haley Smith)."

Longer term, the plans include potential swaps of track riders.
