For the eighth year in a row, Ottawa Public Health is partnering with sports retailers across Ottawa to offer a discount on helmet purchases this weekend (May 4-5).
Participating retailers are offering 10% to 20% discounts on helmets, with some retailers also offering discounts on other safety equipment, such as lights and reflectors.
Helmets help keep everyone protected from serious brain and head injuries by absorbing the force from a fall or hit to the head. In Ontario, the Highway Traffic Act makes it mandatory for anyone under the age of 18 to wear a certified helmet while riding a bicycle.
