As well as rolling out the red carpet for the creme de la creme of MTB athletes in the Elite competition, this year's Vélirium is giving amateur athletes a unique opportunity to push their limits by entering the UCI Mountain Bike Masters World Championships at Mont-Sainte-Anne this August 21–23, 2019. The organization of these competitions is supported by Michelin, a major partner of the Master's component of the event.
Online registration is now open at www.msa2019.com. All entrants must be 30 years of age or older and hold a valid UCI licence. Talk about the chance of a lifetime to race on part of the course the world's top mountain bike athletes will be riding the very next week (August 26th to September 1st), not to mention sweet bragging rights for the lucky winners who get to take home a World Champion rainbow jersey!
The downhill competition will be held on Thursday, August 22nd, and put riders to the test on a 2.9-kilometre descent that takes in 55% of the Elite World Championships course. The cross-country event gets underway on Friday, August 23rd, with riders split into different age categories. The cross-country course is a 4.6-kilometre loop that features 20% of the Elite course. Both events share the same start and finish line as their Elite counterparts the following weekend.
Registrations for 2019, Vélo Mag Raid and GAAP Enduro, proudly presented by Rocky Mountain, are also open online. Riders and their supporters can also visit www.msa2019.com to reserve a coveted spot at the Vélirium campsite. New this year, Décathlon will offer the opportunity to buy a complete camping kit in advance to make sure not to miss anything once on site.
