Bicycle Nova Scotia is looking for kids between 12-17 to join the first Skills Assessment Clinic of 2019 with Provincial Team Coach, Jon Burgess on May 11th in Truro, NS. Bicycle Nova Scotia understands that active youth that engage in sport gain confidence and grow into healthy, active adults. We're committed to providing mentorship to help develop today's youth athletes into tomorrow's top cycling talent!
Bicycle Nova Scotia is committed to providing our the youth of our province with guidance, skill development and leadership to help prepare developing athletes for future provincial and national competitions. Members of this program will form the provincial development team/pool and attend team development training camps and competitions led by provincial and developing coaches.
The goal of the this development program is to bring athletes together in a team environment to acquire and perfect critical mountain biking skills. Athletes will be introduced to mountain bike training structure, have the opportunity to learn from our certified provincial coaches, socialize with other athletes, and train for a major event.
The Provincial Development Team focuses on youth that will compete provincially and wish to further improve their performance at races. As such we require the following of participants:
• A properly functioning Mountain Bike that is able to tackle cross-country conditions
• Helmets are required when cycling in any discipline in Nova Scotia
• Participants have to be able to ride independently
• Previous experience in a competitive cycling event or short-track competition is not required, but is an asset
