Cycling BC, Canada's governing body for the sport of cycling in British Columbia, is pleased to announce a new partnership with Cannondale Bicycles. The partnership will help Cycling BC's iRide program continue to make cycling as accessible as possible to school children in grades 4-6 and provide opportunities to build confidence, master skills and have fun with their friends in a safe environment.

As the new official bicycle sponsor of the Cycling BC iRide program, Cannondale has donated a fleet of sixty brand new Cannondale Trail 24" bikes that will be used by kids participating in iRide's in-school and summer camp programs in the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver.

The Cannondale Trail 24" is built with a strong but lightweight alloy frame, bars, stem, and seatpost, making it easier for school-aged kids to ride. Powerful disc brakes on the bike provide young riders with the boost they need to ride with confidence and control.

"The iRide program is designed to help get kids moving, to get them on their bikes and build confidence through sport-specific skills. Cannondale stepped up in a huge way this year, and I am so excited to announce this partnership. The kids are loving the disc brakes, the comfy seats and the flashy colours," said Ben Chaddock, iRide's program manager.

"The bikes are lightweight which helps the kids try some of the more challenging maneuvers as well as tackle those short steep hills that we can all remember as 'walls' when we were that age. The coaches appreciate their design too as they are sleek and easy to pack into our transportation vehicles!"

Cycling BC's iRide has been delivering cycling skills and safety education to kids in British Columbia since 2013. During that time, iRide has helped get more than 45,000 kids on bikes and now provides programs for up to 10,000 kids in BC each year. The program is supported by the generosity of private donors, sponsors, and partners like Cannondale.
