Riders returning from the World Cup in Europe dominated Round 3 of the XCO Canada Cup series in Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec, on Saturday, winning the Elite and Junior competitions for both women and men.
In the Elite women, Jenn Jackson (AWI Racing) won by nearly three minutes over Under-23 rider Laurie Arsenault (CC ACQ), with Round 2 winner Maghalie Rochette finishing third. Roxane Vermette (CC MSA) took the overall Series lead after finishing fifth.
In the Elite men's competition, Leandre Bouchard (Pivot Cycles-OTE) finished just over a minute in front of team mate Raphael Auclair, the top Under-23 rider. Andrew L'Esperance (Norco Factory) took third. With his win, Bouchard took the leader's jersey.
The Junior categories saw the winners from the opening round back on top of the podium, with Emilly Johnston (Pendrel Racing) winning the women's race and Carter Woods (Rocky Mountain Factory) the men's. Woods resumes the lead in the men's series, while American Madigan Munro leads the women.
In the Under-17 races, Nicole Bradbury (NCCH Elite p/b MGCC) took her third straight win the women's category to cement her lead in the overall standings. Owen Clark (Homestead Racing) won the men's race, with Erik Ashton (Cycling BC) leading the standings after finishing second.
