The Waterloo Cycling Club is once again bringing Cyclo-cross racing to the Region of Waterloo with the second annual KWCX race. The race will be held at Bingemans, a family-oriented facility in central Kitchener on Saturday, October 26th.
Jason Pollard, WCC President, said, "The Waterloo Cycling Club, one of the largest cycling clubs in Ontario, has put together a great team to bring Cyclo-cross racing to KW. Cyclo-cross racing, or CX, is one of the most spectator friendly forms of bike racing as it is held on a closed circuit in a grassy field. We encourage the community to come out and watch."
Mark Weymouth, Course Designer, said, "The course will be challenging as well as rider friendly. Racers will be completing laps around the fields at Bingemans, through the sand pit, and up a few climbs. It will challenge the best and allow those new to cross racing to have a great time. CX is about having fun, after all."
Joanne Beattie, Sponsorship Director, said, "We are proud to have Ziggy's Cycle and Sport as our Title Sponsor providing mechanical support for race day. Thanks to King Street Cycle, McPhails Cycle, Ziggy's Cycle and Sport, The Hub, and Grand River Cycle who are providing prizes for the top three finishers in each category."
Race registration is online, in advance, for $40 until October 18th, and $50 thereafter at www.kwcx.ca. Race day registration is $70. All youth racers ages 9-16 race for only $10!
