We are very sorry to report that long time Ontario commissaire Wayne Willis passed away on May 26th, at the age of 76. The cause was pancreatic cancer.
Distinctive with his curly hair and bushy beard, Wayne was a calm yet decisive official at road and track events for more than 30 years, as well as being a member of the London Centennial Wheelers.
I remember working with Wayne as a rider, team manager, fellow commissaire and member of the media. While he was always firm, he was also fair, and willing to listen to all sides before making a ruling. I don't recall Wayne ever having to raise his voice.
Expressions of sympathy may be made through London Cremation Services online at www.londoncremation.com.
