Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, has received federal funding of $45,922 to expand programming and infrastructure for Sheridan Bike Hub program, which promotes cycling as a means of transportation for students, faculty and staff.
At a virtual presentation on Monday with local MPs Anita Anand (Oakville) and Pam Damoff (Oakville North-Burlington), Damoff said, "Cycling is part of a healthy lifestyle, it's economical, it's good for our environment and we should continuously work to ensure it is accessible, affordable and safe for all. This funding will introduce more students to the benefits of cycling and change the way many commute to campus."
The money will be used for educational workshops for students, staff and faculty, as well as a mentorship program pairing experienced cyclists with newcomers to cycling.
More on the program can be found at Sheridan Bike Hub.
