This past weekend, Canadian road/track racer Maggie Coles-Lyster (DNA Pro Cycling) had exceptional results at two of the top-East Coast U.S. races of the early North American season. She finished second on Saturday at The Armed Forces Cycling Classic's Crystal Cup in Arlington, Virginia, and then on Sunday went one better, winning the Clarendon Cup.

We reached out to Maggie after her incredible weekend, and she responded:

"The Armed Forces Cycling Classic was my first Crit back in the past year, like it was for many, and it was also my first race with my team, DNA Pro Cycling. I'm so proud and impressed with how textbook our team raced for our first race together. We were just in-sync, and how much fun we were having right off the get-go.

"Coming away with a second in Crystal City and then first at the Clarendon Cup gives [me] so much confidence starting out the season. I went into it having had an amazing year of training and a really cool opportunity - despite the pandemic - to build my endurance and have that base block that I was never really able to have, between ongoing track and road seasons and the conflicts there.

"So I came into these races in the best form of my life, feeling incredible. But it's kind of scary, because you never know where other riders are at until you actually race them. So coming away with a second and a first really sets the tone for the season. The teamwork ... and how amazing it was to actually race with four other riders in the race is something I have never experienced before, and I just can't wait to see what we do at Tulsa next week. It's going to be a fun season ahead."
