Gorman Update
Most readers will be aware that National team member Charlie Gorman of Ontario, who was on a project with the national team in Europe broke his jaw while competing at the Espoir version of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege race last weekend. Many have been asking how he is doing. I spoke with his father Mike earlier this evening (who I have know for (gulp) 25+ years, when we were both still racing...).
Charlie is still in Belgium, scheduled to fly back on Sunday after having received surgery. He is expected to have at least two more weeks of recovery after his accident. Mike says that the trip was 'not good' for Charlie - a crash in the first stage of the first race; a flat in the second, while the team car was servicing the break; and the crash in Liege while he was staying 'at the front', as advised (the first 4 rows of riders went down...).
Needless to say, his spirits are not the best, so messages can be sent to spokesforfolks@accglobal.net
