The latest Bicycle-Friendly Cities list from money.co.uk has been released, and North America did not do well. Only two cities made the list - Ottawa in 26th, and the U.S. city of Madison, Wisconsin, in 27th. Madison is the headquarters city for U.S.-based Trek Bicycles.
Not surprisingly, Copenhagen, Denmark, was number one, with a score of 216 out of a possible 280. Tallinn, Estonia, was second (210 points) and Amsterdam, Netherlands, was third (209). Cities in Finland, Israel, Norway, Australia and Spain made up the rest of the top-10, with Australia having three cities among the ten best.
Points were allotted for such things as bicycle and e-bike rental costs, cycling laws, number of mapped bike paths per resident, pollution levels, elevation levels and average annual temperatures/rainfall levels.
