Alex Cataford, on the Israel - Premier Tech team, is the only Canadian scheduled to participate in this year's Giro d'Italia, the first Grand Tour of the year. This is the 105th edition of the race, and will cover 3410.3 kilometres, with 51,000 metres of climbing over 21 stages.
The race begins on Friday, May 6th, in Budapest, Hungary, with a road stage, followed by an individual time trial in Budapest on Saturday and a final Hungarian stage on Sunday. After travel day on Monday, the race will take its first start in Italy for Stage 4 at the southern most point, on the island of Sicily. It finishes in the north, in Verona, with the second individual time trial of the race.
