Group ride planned for October 30 aims to demonstrate support for the separated bike lane on Stanley Park Drive in Vancouver.

What?
LOVE THE LANE is a family-friendly group bike ride to show support for the separated and protected bicycle lane on Stanley Park Drive.

When?
Sunday, October 30, 10:30 AM, rain or shine.

Where?
Participants will assemble at Ceperley Park, near Second Beach Pool, at 10:30am, then leave for a single loop around the park, riding within the protected bike lane on Stanley Park Drive.

Who is coming?
Cyclists, electric bike riders, those who use mobility devices such as handcycles, and micro mobility devices, such as e-scooters and e-unicycles. Families, elders, youth, athletes, everyone. Anyone welcome in a bike lane is welcome at LOVE THE LANE.

Why?
On October 15, voters elected a completely new Vancouver Park Board, with ABC candidates winning six out of seven positions. This past week, ABC elected officials and campaign staffers have told the media that one of the first acts of the new majority Park Board will be to remove the protected bike lane from Stanley Park Drive for the winter, redesign it, and reinstall a new design in time for next summer.

The organizers of LOVE THE LANE want the new commissioners to leave the existing protected and separated bike lane in place until the new design is ready to implement. Many cyclists are concerned that if the lane is removed it will not be restored by next summer, if at all.
