July 26/23 10:56 am - Canada to Send 130 Athletes to 'Super Worlds'

Cycling Canada has released the list of 130 athletes who will represent Canada at the so-called 'Super Worlds' in Scotland, over August 3-13. This event will combine multiple world championships at one time and location, with 13 different disciplines awarding titles - everything except Cyclo-cross and Gravel.
"This year's World Championships are an opportunity to showcase the depth and breadth of Canadian cycling talent in all disciplines and all age groups," said Scott Kelly, Cycling Canada Chief Sport Officer. "We're excited about our chances and eager to represent Canada on the world’s biggest stage."

Among the athletes representing Canada are defending champions Dylan Bibic (Scratch Race - Men) and Mel Pemble (Omnium, Scratch Race - Women C3), as well as multi-time Junior world champion Carson Mattern (Individual Pursuit, Omnium), in his first year at the Under-23/Elite level. In addition, Isabella Holmgren, the 2023 Junior Cyclo-Cross World Champion, will be looking to add mountain bike and road titles to her collection. The 2021 Junior Downhill World Champion (and 2023 Elite World Cup winner) Jackson Goldstone is listed on the team, but our understanding is that he will not compete due to ongoing health issues related to appendix surgery earlier in the year.
The Track events will feature Canadian heavy hitters, including Tokyo 2020 medallists Kelsey Mitchell and Lauriane Genest, and Keely Shaw and Kate O'Brien for para-track cycling.
Two-time triathlon Olympian and two-time national time trial champion Paula Findlay will also be making her World Championships debut for cycling (time trial only), joining Paris-Roubaix winner Alison Jackson, currently competing in the Tour de France Femmes, and Maggie Coles-Lyster - seven Elite women in total.
Canada will also have seven Elite men in the road race, including Giro breakout Derek Gee, Tour de France riders Hugo Houle and Guillaume Boivin, and national champion Nickolas Zukowsky.
Canadians will also be competing as individuals at the UCI Cycling World Championships in the Gran Fondo mass participation event.
