Alessandra Keller (Thomus Maxon) took a strong win on Friday in Round 5 of the World Cup XCC (Short Track) at Pal Arinsal, Andorra, riding from the front all race. Evie Richards (Trek Factory) took second and Puck Pieterse (Alpecin Deceuninck) third. Canada's only entry in the race, Jenn Jackson (Liv Factory) finished 30th.
The Andorra round is the highest altitude of the World Cup series, at 1551 metres of elevation, and it pays a role, with many riders fading in the second half of the race, including new world champion Pauline Ferrand Prevot (Ineos Grenadiers), who was sixth. When Keller attacked with a lap and a half to go in the eight lap race, only Richards responded, and the British champion could not close the gap, finishing six seconds back.
