On Thursday night a new Freestyle bowl was officially opened at the Bromont velodrome, adding to the track and the pump track as indoor venues, as well as the outdoor BMX track and mountain bike skills park.
The bowl is located in the north end of the building, encompassing the area between corners 3 and 4 of the velodrome track. Over 300 people came out to participate in the opening, with members of the national BMX Freestyle squad, plus scooter and skateboard athletes putting on a demonstration.
The venue will allow athletes to train for this new Olympic sport, and it is expected that national championships will take place here in the future.
