The 2024 Canadian Road Nationals began on Friday with the Individual Time Trial, with titles awarded to men and women in Para, Under-17, Junior, Under-23 and Elite categories. Held on a rolling out-and-back course north of St-Georges, Quebec, riders had near perfect conditions, with temperatures in the low 20s and very little wind.
Professional triathlete Paula Findlay took her third straight victory in the Elite women's category, holding off Olivia Baril (Movistar) by a slim 24 seconds, with Sarah van Dam (DNA) a further 3.3 seconds back. In the Under-23 category, Mara Roldan (Cynisca) held off the Holmgren sisters (both Lidl-Trek), with Ava at 7.7 seconds and Isabella at 40.1 seconds.

The men's title went to Pier-André Côté (Israel Premier Tech), a rider more known for his Classics-style one-day racing. However, a decade earlier, Côté was the Junior national ITT champion, so he has the palmares. Côté beat second place Carson Miles (Team N'SIDE) by a margin of almost two minutes, with Edward Ouellet finishing third at two and a half minutes. Chris Ernst (Toronto Hustle) was expected to be a contender, but he abandoned after dropping his chain twice in the first half of the race.

In the Under-23 men, the title went toJonas Walton (Ecoflo Chronos), finishing 20 seconds ahead of defending champion Michael Leonard (Ineos Grenadiers), who is recently back in competition after missing months recovering from a broken hip. Campbell Parrish (TaG Cycling) took third, just under a minute back. Walton and Leonard had times fast enough to have put them second and third in the Elite category.
