Derek Gee Confirmed for Giro in 2025

Canada's Derek Gee, who rides for Israel - Premier Tech, had his breakthrough Grand Tour ride in 2023 at the Giro d'Italia, before confirming his ability as. Grand Tour rider last year at the Tour de France. The team has released a statement confirming that Gee will return to the Giro in 2025:

Off the back of his top-10 finish on debut at the Tour de France in July, the Canadian rider will be heading back to the first Grand Tour of the season next year.

"It's incredibly special to return to the Giro d'Italia," says Gee. "That's where I got my first taste of Grand Tours and I remember how passionate the crowds were. Although I'm coming back in a different capacity than what I raced it in 2023, I'm looking forward to it just as much.

"I think there is definitely a little more pressure and I've set my own expectations higher than I have going into Grand Tours in the past but, at the same time, that's incredibly motivating. Having the process goals of doing a full build up for the General Classification with all eyes on finishing as high as possible in Rome is really special."


Emilly Johnston Signs with Scott-SRAM

Emily Johnston will be leaving Trek Future as she moves out of the Under-23 ranks to join the Scott-SRAM team headlined by Nino Schurter. She will be joined by American Trek Future team mate Bjorn Riley, whois also moving up to the Elite ranks. The team is run by the legendary Thomas Frischknecht, so Johnston will gain his expert mentorship.

In a statement, the team said:

SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team announces young talents Emilly Johnston and US National Champion Bjorn Riley as new arrivals for 2025. 10-time World Champion Nino Schurter, Swiss National Champion Filippo Colombo and Andri Frischknecht extend their contracts until 2026 with SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing, as do SRAM and RockShox.

"With Emilly and Bjorn we have two great talents as part of the team for the future. Both of them are very talented and ready to take the next step in their careers. The whole team is keen to support them in their further professional development in MTB racing. And I'm sure there is one or the other things we can learn from them as well", comments Thomas Frischknecht, Team Manager.
