After a two year absence, the Under-17 and Junior National Track Championships returned to the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ontario. Ontario led the medal count, with 59 medals, including 25 gold. Quebec wasn't too far behind, with 45 medals (10 gold), followed by British Columbia (11 medals, 3 gold) and Alberta (5 medals, 2 gold).
A total of 18 riders across the four categories (Under-17 women and men, and Junior women and men) won national titles across the ten events contested, led by Ottawa's Carter Deveer (Ignite Junior Cycling), who took home an impressive seven gold medals in the Under-17 men's category. Twelve (12) additional riders won multiple titles, with Alexander Gies (Faction Racing) following Deveer with 5 golds in Under-17 men. Three riders won four titles - Junior women Alexandra Fangeat (Liftow p/b KWCA) and Elodie Malois (Equipe du Quebec), and Junior man Jake McLean (Ignite). Fangeat also set a world and Canadian record for the Junior women's 3000 metre individual pursuit, with a time of 3:36.875, on the opening day of competition.
With nearly 90 athletes competing, the velodrome was filled with both returning 2024 riders and newcomers. "The 2025 Junior track champs surpassed all expectations. From the electric energy in the velodrome to the remarkable talent on display, this event highlighted the depth and potential of Canada's next generation of cyclists. We're incredibly proud of every athlete, coach and volunteer who made this championship such a resounding success,' says event organizer Jacob Graper.
