April 21/25 16:29 pm - Tanya Dubnicoff to Be General Manager at New Edmonton Velodrome

The Alberta Velodrome Association is delighted to announce the appointment of Tanya Dubnicoff as its new General Manager, effective immediately. A decorated athlete and high performance coach with over 20 years of leadership experience, Tanya was the 1993 world champion and a three-time Olympian. She is the most internationally decorated female in the history of Canadian track cycling. Tanya will spearhead operations of the soon-to-open indoor velodrome facility at the Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre.

"Having spent over three decades immersed in the world of cycling - from grassroots to the Olympic stage - this role resonates deeply with me," says Tanya. "The chance to lead operations at a world-class velodrome feels like a homecoming and a powerful opportunity to give back to the sport that has defined my life."

Tanya is recognized across Canada for her transformative impact on cycling, from youth development programs to coaching Olympic medal-winning teams. Most recently, she led community engagement initiatives for Sport Calgary, championing inclusive sports for all ages. Prior to that, she served in high-performance roles with the Canadian Cycling Association and the Canadian Sports Institute Calgary, cultivating grassroot-to-elite pathways that propelled athletes onto international podiums. She also founded and facilitated the "Lead with Purpose" leadership program, guiding business and sports leaders to achieve their full potential.

The new velodrome is part of the award-winning Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre - recognized at the 2024 World Architecture Festival for its innovative design. With Tanya at the helm, the Alberta Velodrome Association looks forward to delivering year-round access to premier athletic training, community programs, and world-class events.
