Tour de l'Abitibi - Quebec
Jacques Landry, National Team Coach, has just reported that Ontario's Ryan Roth has won the 4th stage of Abitibi. The 83.5 kilometre stage came down to a field sprint after a group of 10 riders were caught in the final lap of 6 on the finishing circuit in Val d'Or.
Tomorrow is a double stage with an individual time trial in the morning and a road race in the afternoon. The time trial is a historic first - it starts 251 feet (77 M) underground in an old mine shaft! The riders begin with a 500M 17% climb to the surface before finishing the 13.3 kilometre stage. According to the organizers it is the first time ever that a road race stage has been held underground.
