Roach Clothing Bought by Race Face
Vancouver, BC - Race Face Components Inc. announces the purchase of Roach Clothing, effective today (August 16, 2001). Race Face will take over the manufacturing and distribution of Roach's complete line of apparel, armor, and bike pads. Ingrid Doerr, the brains behind the Roach brand since it's inception, will remain with Roach/Race Face in a long-term capacity as the head designer and marketer for all future apparel and armor lines.
'We're very excited to purchase the Roach brand. Roach is a leader in the mountain bike industry when it comes to cool apparel design- their product is a perfect complement to our existing component and apparel line' said Craig Pollack, President of Race Face. 'In fact, it's a common sight to see riders proudly wearing Roach apparel while pedaling their Race Face equipped bikes, so the demographic is a perfect fit. Roach, in conjunction with our existing Race Face branded apparel, is a perfect 1-2 combination for retailers looking to sell bike clothing in a significant way'.
Roach Clothing began in the early 90's manufacturing stem pads and top tube pads for Vancouver couriers. In the past few years, Roach has established itself as the de facto standard in leg and arm armor. Roach also makes a hard core line of free ride apparel, including the popular Indy shorts and a complete 'Wade Simmons' signature line.
I'm excited about working with Race Face', added Doerr. 'Culturally, it's a great fit for me. I get complete creative control over the brand, and Race Face takes care of the production and distribution of all Roach products. Dealers should be excited because Roach will now be supported by a well established company in Race Face ensuring our products get delivered on-time. Also, this arrangement allows me to focus 100% on my true passion, which is marketing and product design.'
