Tour of Hawaii

Canadians dominated the 16 km point to point second stage of the Hawaiian Tour yesterday, with Chrissy Redden taking the womens race and Roland Green the mens. With her win, Chrissy moves up to third on GC, behind Tammy Jacques of Schwinn and Alison Dunlap (GT); unfortunately Chris was unable to supply us with the mens GC, other than to say Jerome Chiotti (GT) still leads. Our correspondent (Chris Redden of Team Schwinn Canada - thanks Chris!) tells us that the stage took place in and around Jurrasic Valley - filming site for the dino movie. The riders faced a 2.5 km climb, with a 100 m section of bike‚n hike that was barely a foot wide! In the afternoon there was a 2 minute downhill stage, that had no effect on GC, and was treated with caution by the top riders. Go Here to see a photo of Chrissy winning (photo courtesy Ritchey).

Cactus Cup, Arizona

Just as in Hawaii, Canadians are dominating the Cactus Cup. Alison Sydor finished a whopping minute plus in front of second place fellow Canadian Lesley Tomlinson in the 10 km first stage individual time trial through the cacti-covered landscape yesterday afternoon. Sue Palmer finished in 9th place. In the mens race it was Chris Sheppard, showing off his new Catera-Pure Energy outfit, who finished a slim 8 seconds ahead of Swedish rider Johan Malmsten. Canadian Andreas Hestler, a perennial top finisher at this race was third.

Discovery Channel Womens Cycling Challenge, Australia

Canada hasa team at this stage race, consisting of Kim Langton, Annie Gariepy, Sophie St. Jacques and Cybil Digustini. Today (remember - Australian time difference!), the women raced in a 30 km criterium and a 75 km road race. Sophie St Jacques was 5th in the road race. Canada is currently 6th in Team GC. No other Canadian results available at this time.
