Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli has done it again, winning the women's world time trial championship by four tenths of a second over Nicole Brandli of Switzerland. The 43 year old was second fastest (to Brandli) at both intermediate time checks - 7.5 seconds down at the first (4.5 km) and 4.4 seconds at 13 kilometres - but steadily wore away at her young rival (Brandli is just barely half the age of Longo-Ciprelli).
Canadians fared respectably, with Leah Goldstein an early leader in the standings. Goldstein finished 15th and Anne Samplonius 16th.
