Toronto Landmark Store Closing

The Bicycle Specialties Store on Millwood Road in Toronto is closing at the end of this month. Owner Mike Barry has decided to close the retail store and concentrate efforts on the building of Mariposa custom bikes, restoration of classic and vintage bikes and dealing in specialty parts. The business will move to an industrial unit in the Bermondsey / O'Conner area of Toronto. There will be a small showroom but the main features will be the frame building facility and paint shop.

The Millwood Road store will close permanently on December 22nd. Until then there will be a clearance sale of all inventory with drastic reductions in the price of all the bikes, parts and accessories that are in stock.

Mike Barry has been a bike retailer in Toronto since the early '70s, first with the legendary Bicyclesport store on King Street. Our editor remembers spending many an hour (and much income) in there...

While it is sad to hear that Bicycle Specialties is closing, we are looking forward to the revival of the Mariposa brand.
