Grouse Downhill Cancelled
Courtesy UCI
The UCI has taken note with regret of the decision of GESTEV INC and GROUSE MOUNTAIN, organisers of the 4th round of the 2002 TISSOT-UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup, to cancel the race scheduled on July 7th 2002 in Grouse Mountain (Vancouver, Canada) due to unexpected snow conditions at the venue.
Because of the cancellation of the Downhill race and in agreement with IMTTO (Association of the UCI Mountain Bike Sports Groups and Technical Supports), the UCI is obliged to cancel also the 4-Cross race because of non-representative participation to the World Cup, also conscious that 4-Cross participants are Downhill athletes.
No replacement site is foreseen for the moment, the TISSOT-UCI 2002 Mountain Bike World Cup will take place in 5 races instead of 6.
The Cross-Country will go ahead as scheduled.
