Silver Star pulls out of hosting Canada Cup

Silver Star mountain in BC, scheduled to host Canada Cup XC#5 and DH#4 on July 27-28 has had to withdraw from hosting both this event and the BC Cup.
A new owner purchased the mountain last year. The management team has an aggressive plan in place to improve the infrastructure at the mountain in preparation for winter 2002. This means that there will be considerable construction activity this summer including a lift replacement.
The schedule for construction will be very tight and it would be impossible to guarantee that operations be suspended to accommodate the weekend events. In addition, the area management is very concerned about safety issues on the mountain. With large equipment and helicopters moving towers, there is too much potential risk to host a large-scale event.
The CCA's Development Committee is presently considering the viability of several possible options. Information will follow, as it becomes available.
