HP Women's Challenge
Stage 5: St. Alphonsus Shoshone to Pomerelle Road Race, 87.9 miles, 140.6 km
Genevieve Jeanson has taken todays stage 5 in spectacular fashion!
A crash marred stage with not one but two major crashes (one involving 20 riders) that sent experienced riders out of the raceand saw the pack split into two. After the 2nd crash a breakaway group of 15 that included Petra Rossner, Diana Zilute, Ina-Yoko Teutenberg and other strong riders gained over 4 minutes on a reduced peloton. Team RONA went to the front and assisted by Great Britain, pulled the leaders back to just under 3 minutes with 7 km to go at final climb of the day. Then Jeanson went.on a solo attack. She caught and passed the leaders in under 10 minutes and rode in to take the solo win. She will also (unofficially) take over as race leader
