U.S. Postal Announces Tour Team
Defending champions U.S. Postal have announced their team for the Tour de France, and Canadian Michael Barry will not be on it. Joining Armstrong will be George Hincapie (USA), Floyd Landis (USA), Roberto Heras (Spain), Jose Luis Rubiera (Spain), Victor Hugo Pena (Columbia), Viatcheslav Ekimov (Russia), Pavel Padrnos (Czechoslovakia) and Benoit Joachim (Luxembourg).
Barry was a long shot, given his relative inexperience at this level, and most observers felt that Postal wants to bring him along a little more slowly. The announcement also clears the last obstacle in the way of Barry representing Canada at the Commonwealth Games, where he is likely to race both the time trial and the road race.
