Races Postponed - Courses en fin de semaine remises

DIEPPE- Le 4 juillet 2002- Les courses cédulées pour la fin de semaine au Vélodrome Caisse populaire Dieppe seront remises en raison d'un conflit d'horaire de certaines équipes. Toutefois, les courses seront remises (de façon tentative) le 15 septembre 2002 lors du grand prix atlantique. Plus d'informations suivront.


DIEPPE- 4 July 2002- The races that were scheduled for this weekend will be postponed because of a conflict in many of the teams schedules. The races will tentatively be re-scheduled September 15th 2002 in conjunction with the Atlantic Track Cup. More information will follow.

The 19th edition of La Coupe des Amériques hosts, for the first time, the North-American Road Masters Championship. A record of 229 Canadian and American racers competitioned to win the different titles at stake or participated in the Médico Sportif Challenge.

The North-American Road Masters Championship is an international cycling competition for Masters featuring 4 stages over 3 days: the group hill climb, the individual time trial, the criterium and the road race.

The Champions of the North-American Road Masters by category are the following:
Category F (Women 40 yrs +) Diane Castor (USA); Category E (W 30 - 39) Lenard Imhof (USA); Category D (Men 60 +) Edward O'Hearn (USA); Category C (M 50 - 59) David Rath (USA); Category B (M 40 - 49) Manny Lopez (USA); Category A (M 30 - 39) Carl Dessureault (Canada).

La Coupe Grands Maîtres Cascades was awarded to Ms Leslie Ludtke and Mr Ernest Zweiacker being the eldest female and male "Seniors" who obtained the best combined results.

La Coupe des Nations finally went to Canada as their contestants accumulated the most points (1508) over the United States (1448). The award ceremonies during a banquet served on Sunday evening at the Mount Sutton Chalet concluded the event.

Over 150 volunteer workers and many sponsors such as: Government of Canada, MRC and CLD of Brome-Missisquoi, Cascades, Médico Sportif and CDES of Sutton joined efforts to make La Coupe des Amériques 2002 a great success which is very encouraging for the 20th Anniversary celebrations next summer. The president, Denis Boulanger, comments the success of the activity in these terms: "Seniors appreciate and highly praise "La Coupe des Amériques", considering it as a "must" on their competition calendar and we can credit the competence of our numerous volunteers for this huge success."
