Report from 8th Annual World Masters Track Championships

What an amazing event! I saw a 82 yr old man compete in the over 70 category. It was awesome. And get this he was pissed off at his time because he had the slow start. HE said it was one of his slowest times. I hope to be alive at 80!

Here is a quick lowdown on the results.

Over 65 - 500 TT
Gold: Atte Koskinen (Finland) 39.53
Silver: Karl Waeldele (Germany but trains in Calgary) 40.17
Bronze: Bob Kaye (USA) 40.22

Kilo - 35-39 age group
Gold: Kenny Williams (USA) 106.79
Silver: David Robson (GBr) 108.47
Bronze: Michael Clucas (Australia) 108.83
4th (Again 2nd yr in a row) Robert Veroba (Canada) 109.04
5th Keith Brunheau (Canada) 109.41

35-39 - Sprints
Final was pretty ugly. All of the rides are 3 ups and all one ride!

In the semi's Keith Bruneau was racing Shigekazu Maruyama of Japan. This guy came out like a rocket. Keith jumped him with a lap to go, got on him and the bugger closed the gap! It was a nice race on Shigekazu's part and tough luck for Keith.

So Keith moved onto the 4-6th place. 1 ride a 3 up. The Gold, Silver Bronze was a 1 ride 3 up too! Exciting stuff.

Keith drew the 2nd position to start, along with Tim Goodwin in the pole and David Robson up top. They started and on the back straight Keith got sandwiched between the two guys and got taken out. I he wasn't hurt bad, a couple of scratches but he was ready to go. I take him up to the line again and just after the whistle goes to start the race, I notice he has a flat front tire. S--T! We stop the race again. Get another wheel and start the race.

By this time I think Keith blew all of his energy. Tim and Keith were fighting in the back for positioning and David from Australia got away to take the win.

4th David Robson Australia
5th Keith Bruneau Canada
6th Tim Goodwin USA.

Thats it for now, Bob Veroba is riding his Pursuit on Wednesday. Qualifying in the AM and the Final in the Evening.

It is a rest day today at the Vuelta Racing resumes tomorrow with a 154.7 km stage - Aviles to Leon.
