Courtesy CCA
The Canadian Cycling Association is pleased to announce the final selections for the Canadian team that will participate at the Track World Championships in Ballerup, Denmark, September 25-29.
Women Sprint, Keirin, 500m:
Lori-Ann Muenzer*
Alternate: Laura Yoisten
Women Individual Pursuit:
Erin Carter**
no alternate
Women Points Race, Scratch Race:
Mandy Poitras
no alternate
Note: No men qualified for the World Championships
* Lori-Ann Muenzer will not be able to compete due to recent surgery for appendicitis
** Erin Carter will be unable to compete.
Canada will therefore have only two riders at the Track Worlds - Mandy Poitras and Laura Yoisten. Lori-Ann Muenzer, our strongest medal hope, unfortunately had to have appendix surgery shortly after the Pan Am Championships, ending her season. Erin Carter is also out after picking up a bug in Quito, Ecuador (Pan Ams), and generally being run down after competing at both the Commonwealth Games (3 events) and Pan Am Championships.
