Atlas Cold Storage - Italpasta Release
The Atlas Cold Storage - Italpasta team has released an official statement regarding Simon Small's positive result for ephedrine.
Athlete Simon Small tested positive on July 21, 2002 and was imposed a three month sanction, according to a Canadian Center for Ethics in Sport ruling. The sanction terminates on October 21, 2002 and was communicated to the athlete on September 19, 2002. The test result was for the controlled substance ephedrine. Limits for this substance are 0.10ug/ml. The sample measured 0.11ug/ml. The result was due to consumption of an over-the-counter decongestant, fully declared to the CCES attending doctor prior to testing. The team supports Simon during this time because it feels this result does not reflect a deliberate act of cheating. The team does not condone doping and continues to support the CCES in its pursuit of drug free sport. The team supports the actions taken by the CCES and hopes that this serves as a public reminder of the care athletes must take with all over-the-counter medications.
