VANCOUVER BICYCLE CLUB - PROCESSION OF HONOUR FOR JOHN HATHAWAY  TUESDAY, JUNE 17TH, 12:30 pm, Broadway & Granville, Vancouver, B.C. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Vancouver Bicycle Club will be holding a bicycle procession on TUESDAY, JUNE 17TH, from central Vancouver to the memorial service for its former President and Life Member John W. Hathaway, who passed away on Friday June 7th.  Those cyclists in the Vancouver, B.C. region who are able to attend are welcome to join in along the route, which will follow the Broadway-Lougheed Highway corridor, starting at 12:30 pm at Granville and Broadway, passing Fraser Street at about 12:45, and Boundary Road at about 1:00 pm. The Procession will arrive at Cliff Avenue United Church (1600 Cliff Ave) before 2 pm.  Rain or shine, naturally!  Contact for further info: Bruce Hainer, 873-0320 ---------------------------------------------------------------------   Bromont Results  Thanks to Pierre Thibeault of the Quebec Cycling Federation (FQSC), we now have complete results for the bromont Canada Cup, held this past weekend. They are posted in three separate files, due to size.   Tour du Saguenay/Lac St-Jean (thanks to J.L.)  A HAT TRICK FOR BEAUCHAMP  Sylvain Beauchamp, from the Everfresh/Radio-Energie team, completed his hat trick yesterday by winning the 9th edition of the Tour.  About 50 cyclists took part in the last stage of the 500 km race. This last stage was around a 3,9 km loop which included the "Talon Hill", with an inclination of close to 15% ...  Beauchamp was first to cross the finish line, 5 seconds ahead of Michael Barry of Espoirs Laval and 25 seconds in front of Mark Walters from Jeep Eable.   The GC finished in the same order   Ontario Provincial Track Championships  The Ontario Track Championships will take place at the Wind Del Community Park, Windham Centre, Delhi on June 21 - 22. The Championships are the qualifiers for the Ontario Team in the National Championships.  Riders must compete in the Provincial Championships in order to become part of the Ontario team at Nationals unless they are away on National Team duty. In this case, they are expected to write to Dave Butler, Chair, ORC. to this effect. This was specifically spelled out in a recent Bicycle Ontario quite clearly. Riders should recognise this and act accordingly if they are aiming at Provincial Team Representation at the Nationals.  Registration is at 8.00a.m. each day and first race is at 9.00a.m. prompt each day.  Entry fees are $10 per event Senior/Veteran to a maximum of $30, for Juniors $8.00 per event to a maximum of $24.  One Day Licenses will be issued for the Championships. The Championships are not open and are restricted to Ontario riders only.  The organization is still looking for volunteers. If you can be of help bell ringing etc., please call Val Davidge at 905 - 824 - 8906, leave a message if necessary.  BIG HATS OFF TO STEVE KARPICK, COACH OF THE LAKESHORE CYCLING CLUB.  Last week, Steve had 9 women at the Track League. This should make for an exciting Championship. When you compare 9 women to 6 guys, it is pretty pathetic. Ironically, to those in the know in political circles, this is a total upset and promises to  be the best ever event attended by women riders - we are hoping!  Please turn out to participate, watch or criticize. We welcome you.   Another Hour Attempt  British rider Yvonne McGregor will attempt on Wednesday to recapture the World Hour record that she lost to Jeannie Longo of France last year. Longo‚s record is 48.159 kilometres.
