Just a reminder that the CBC finishes up 4 consecutive Saturdays of cycling world championship coverage tomorrow (November 2nd) with the Track World Championships. Coverage is on at 1:30 pm EST, but check your local listings for times and stations.


Veltec Toronto Factory Sale

Veltec Canada's yearly one day sale of Pearl Izumi clothing will take place on Saturday, December 7th, between 9am and 2 pm. They will also have sales rep samples and Tacx trainers.

Veltec Canada has moved - the new address is 433 Horner Ave., Unit 4. This is on the south side of Horner, just east of Browns Line in the Queensway Industrial Park complex.


Atlantic Cycling Centre

We are happy to announce the nomination of Brigitte Lavigne as the new manager of the Atlantic Cycling Centre as of October 28th. Brigitte was formally the Executive Director of the Final des Jeux de l'Acadie in Dieppe and has a baccalaureate in recreation from Université de Moncton. Her role as a full time staff will consist of office administration, sponsorships, Caisse populaire Dieppe Velodrome as well as event coordination.

IMBA/Koobi Club Assistance Grants Awarded

Four bicycle groups will receive cash awards in the second round of 2002 IMBA/Koobi Club Assistance Grants. The $500 grants support projects that preserve and enhance trail opportunities for mountain bikers.

The 2002 IMBA/Koobi Club Assistance Grants second-round winners are:

* Central Ohio Mountain Biking Organization, Columbus, Ohio - COMBO will continue their dynamic advocacy work in the Columbus area by expanding their successful mountain bike patrol unit with additional trained patrollers and equipment. Bike patrols play a key role in keeping trails open and securing new riding opportunities.

* Calendon Cycling Club, Brampton, Ontario - Funds will support new trail construction in the Palgrave Conservation Area near Toronto. The group hopes to build 8 miles of new trails in 2003.

* North Carolina Outward Bound School, Asheville, North Carolina - This respected program will purchase high-quality trailwork tools to boost their
volunteer stewardship efforts. The School leads regular mountain biking outings that include trailwork.

* Laramie Bicycling Network, Laramie, Wyoming - The grant will aid the formation of the Southeastern Wyoming Mountain Bike Patrol, the state's first patrol unit. The volunteer patrol will assist, educate, and inform trail users in Medicine Bow National Forest.


Sombrio signs North Shore Freeriding Sensation Thomas Vanderham

October 31, North Vancouver - Thomas Vanderham, the 17-year-old riding phenomenon, has officially re-signed a multi-year contract with Sombrio Outerwear Inc. Three years ago, Vanderham's flowing style, coupled by his raw talent and enthusiasm, were deciding factors in adding him to the growing list of Cartel professionals. Thomas represents Sombrio alongside veteran Cartel riders Andrew Shandro, Ben Cory and Dave Watson.
