Canadian Cyclist of the Year Awards

There are less then 4 days remaining to vote in the Canadian Cyclist of the Year Awards. The current standings are as follows:

Male Canadian Cyclist of the Year - Mountain bike World Champion Roland Green has a commanding lead, with just under 50% of the total votes cast. Espoir World Cup winner Ryder Hesjedal is a distant second at 15%, with San Francisco GP winner Charles Dionne just behind (13%).

Female Canadian Cyclist of the Year - Commonwealth Games double medallist Clara Hughes holds 40% of votes cast in this category. Mountain biker Alison Sydor is in second (27%), and road racer Lyne Bessette is just behind in third (23%).

Individual Performance Canadian Cyclist Award - Charles Dionne holds 29% of the votes cast, slightly ahead of Roland Green (28%). US Pro Championship winner Mark Walters is in third place (17%).

Canadian Cyclist Reader's Choice Award - This new award has had 2 days of voting, and downhiller Dustin Adams has taken an early lead, ahead of national road champion Andrew Randall, national time trial champion Eric Wohlberg and national cyclo-cross champion Roddi Lega.


USOC Announces Thirty-Day Disclosure of Doping Positive

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Nov. 25, 2002) --The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) received notification from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) 30 days ago that USADA's Anti-Doping Review Board determined that sufficient evidence of doping
exists to proceed further in the case of Scott Moninger of Boulder, Colo. Moninger, from the sport of cycling, tested positive for the prohibited substance 19-norandrosterone at a road cycling competition in Breckenridge, Colo. on Aug. 10, 2002.

Currently, Moninger is disputing the positive test result in the USADA adjudication process. If a sanction is imposed, USADA will make the announcement at a later date.

This announcement is made in accordance with the USOC's published Anti-Doping Policy, which was adopted in 2001 by the USOC's Executive Committee and requires this disclosure.
