End of Lap 1: The riders have just completed lap 1, and there is little action. Team RONA is at the front keeping tempo.

The crowd is huge. Larger than last year. Fans are holding up sign that read JEANSON and B7 (B sept for Bessette), so it is more than obvious who the crowd favours.

End of Lap 2: There has been a split in the pack as they head up the climb to complete lap 2. There is a front group of about 45 and the remainder of the field is already over a minute back.

End of Lap 3:
Lead group is down to about 35 riders. RONA is still maintaining a presence at the front. Manon Jutras is leading Jeanson.

Dede Demet is leading Sue Palmer who looks comfortable on the climb. None of the notable riders are missing from this group.

Lap 4 At the bottom of the climb on Lap 4, the lead group is again reduced. Estimated 30 riders remain. RONA is still at the front.

Karen Bochel of team RONA, will be out of action for a while. She has a stress fracture in her foot. She will be especially missed today,as she has added much needed strength to the RONA squad.

Lap 5 On the climb at the end of lap 5. The lead group continues to she riders. Now there are about 25 remaining. RONA has backed off a bit and have let other riders set the pace and Saturn has moved taken over the role.

End of lap 6 (halfway point of race). On the climb up to the finish line, Caroline Alexander has attacked. Jeanson was immediately after her with Dede Demet on her wheel. The pack behind is struggling to chase. Catherine Marsal (Saturn) is off the back.Over the top, Alexander relaxed and the pack came back together. This was the order across the line

The clouds are starting to roll in and the wind is increasing, making the climb even more difficult.


Lap 7 On the climb at the end of lap 7: Bruckner of Saturn has moved to the front and her teammates have spread themselves out across the front of the pack behind her. Looks like they are trying to slow the pace and take control.

End of lap 8: at the top of the climb, Great Britain has attacked. Rachel Heal, Caroline Alexander & Sara Symington are leading a break attempt that has split the pack. 15 riders have gone with them, but Manon Jutras and Amy Jarvis of RONA are off the back, as well as (unconfirmed) is Petra Rossner.

Lyne Bessette, Sue Palmer, Dede Demet, Genevieve Jeanson, Melchers, Luperini are still in a group of about 15.

End of lap 9 - 3 to go: Great Britain has backed off the attack and the riders (15 in number)have regrouped. Jutras has rejoined. Jeanson is at the front setting tempo. Rossner is just slightly off the back. Another Saturn rider, Philips has been dropped.

End of lap 10 - 2 to go: No change. The riders are actually slowing down. Everyone is watching everyone else and no one is willing to chance it..... Saturn is happy to keep it all together, as this will keep Rossner in the leaders jersey. Pace is so slow, that some of the dropped riders are actually getting back on.

Last year lap times averaged under 14 minutes. The fastest lap so far was lap 2 at 13:38. Lap 9 was 16:34 and lap 10 15:43.

End of lap 11 - 1 to go: Luperini attacked at the bottom of the climb, but Jeanson took over the lead position at the top climb before the finish of the lap. There are 8 riders right behind her: Bessette, Arndt, Luperini, Veronesi (Edilsavino), Melchers, Alexander, Neben...... There is a gap to a chase group and Sue Palmer and Dede Demet are there in 12th position. Then another gap and Rossner in 18th.

Winner is Demet Barry who said that when she and Millward came over the top of the climb at the end of lap 11, they saw the group. "We hammered and caught them on the way down. We both then attacked on either side and got away. We decided to work together to the base of the climb" After which Demet-Barry rode away from Millward and took the win easily with a 39 second gap.
