Palmer To Race Plouay World Cup

Sue Palmer-Komar will be the only Canadian to race in the Plouay, France World Cup this weekend. Palmer-Komar, the silver medalist in the Commonwealth Games road race, will ride as a member of a composite team that also contains Rochelle Gilmour of Australia.

TransOceane in Trouble?

There have been rumours circulating for some time that the TransOceane women's stage race is in difficulties, and may be either cancelled or restricted to Quebec, instead of the planned first week in Quebec, second week in France. We have learned in the past 48 hours that there is some validity to these rumours, and that the organizers are expected to make an announcement of their plans within the next 24 hours.

The problem, as usual, is funding. The federal government is offering $75,000 in sponsorship, instead of the planned $300,000. The TransOceane is not the only Quebec sporting event to be affected by federal and provincial cutbacks.
