Quebec EPO Doctor Update
CBC Radio is reporting that the Quebec doctor who was being investigated for supplying EPO to athletes has now been charged, after police found quantities of EPO at his facilities. Dr Maurice Duquette is still being investigated by the provincial medical association, who will release their report at the end of the month.
During the report, a brief interview with Louis Barbeau, Technical Director of the FQSC, was broadcast. Barbeau said that it was a female cyclist who first reported (to the FQSC) that she had been offered EPO by Doctor Duquette. FQSC then approached the medical association, who began the investigation. Barbeau stated in his interview that there was no evidence that the female cyclist who reported the situation had ever actually accepted EPO from Duquette.
