Canadian Road Cycling National Championships Website Launched

The Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new web site dedicated permanently to the Canadian Road Cycling National Championships. At this event over 600 athletes will be competing for the red and white Maple Leaf Champions' jersey, which they will be entitled to wear for the next year.

www.roadnationals.com will provide all the necessary information for participants, associations, federations and media about the 2003 Tim Hortons Road National Championships in Hamilton, June 27-30. The CCA invites all athletes interested in participating in the event to visit the site and register. There are discounted fees for early registration. These events will be held on the same course used for the Road World Championships in October

The most important feature of this new web site is it's capacity for secure on-line registration through RBC (www.royalbank.com) and Moneris (www.moneris.com ) for individuals and teams. The site will generate official Union Cycliste International (UCI) start lists for all categories. Also integrated into the site is programming for on-line, real-time results. This .Net technology approach will be expanded to include the BMX and Mountain Bike disciplines of the CCA. It can also be adapted for use in national series and even managing volunteer registration and maintenance.

The cost of developing such programming can be recovered in savings after as few as one or two events. It has the potential to save federations and associations thousands of dollars of expenses and many hours of manual labour.

The web site and registration/result database was designed by Sphyr.com of Laval, QC which is quickly developing a niche for itself in sports federations. Sphyr.com is also working with Federation Auto Quebec.
