Wachovia Liberty Classic - Philadelphia, USA
Lyne Bessette (Saturn) has won the Wachovia Liberty Classic in Philadelphia. T Mobile was very agressive at keeping the race together, until Manon Jutras got a gap on third lap (of four). Once she was brought back on the last lap, Bessette launched an attack on the Manayunk Wall, but was chased down. Lynn Gaggiolo (Fuji) attempted to get away in the closing kilometres, but a chase group led by Bessette, Judith Arndt (Nurnberger) and Kim bruckner (T Mobile) brought her back, just in time for Bessette to launch a massive counter-attack in the final kilometre.
In the men's race, which is about two-thirds of the way through, a break of four has been away all day - Siro Camponogara (Navigators), Trent Klasna (Saturn), Tristan Hoffman (CSC) and Jonathan Vaughters (Prime Alliance). The gap reached a maximum of about six minutes, but is gradually coming down now. there are about 60 kilometres to go.
